typical patients

The types of patients generally referred to us include those with:

  • high caries risk , salivary dysfunction
  • reduced vertical dimension / excessive wear or erosion
  • high smile line / high expectations / thin gingival biotype
  • reduced posterior support / heavily restored / missing teeth / occlusal instability
  • unsatisfactory removable prostheses
  • a history of high maintenance / failure
  • severe dental trauma or dento alveolar trauma

Referrers are encouraged to ensure that the referred patient is informed of their complex problem/s and ensure that they are committed to addressing their long term dental health needs. If the patient is not ready emotionally or financially to undertake treatment, they may still benefit from a long term treatment plan to address their problems. It can identify the causes of the problem, help prioritise future treatment and avoid unnecessary or inappropriate treatment.
