information for referrers

We greatly appreciate the support and confidence shown by our general dental colleagues when they refer one of their patients, whether it is for advice, treatment or a second opinion. Maintaining our ongoing relationship with these colleagues is important to us, so we provide feedback and advice to them on the patient's diagnosis and treatment progress, before returning the patient to them for ongoing care. To ensure that the patient is not inconvenienced by an inappropriate referral, the patient needs to know why they are being referred and what they can expect at the first appointment. Very importantly they also need to have a general idea of treatment options we might suggest and a broad idea of the likely costs. To this extent we have prepared some additional information we hope will help a first time referring dentist.
