new patients

We welcome new patients to our practice and value them very highly. We realise that stepping through the door to a new dentist, especially a specialist, can be a very daunting experience. That is why we go to great lengths to find out if someone has a special fear or concern and do everything we can to make sure this is respected and treated as carefully as possible. Often just knowing what it is and taking the right steps to minimise it, can make the difference between a fearful experience and a great one.
Because the vast majority of our patients are referred by their dentists,
we hope they already have a degree of confidence in us. Nevertheless we never rely on this alone and we go out of our way to make our
patients feel as comfortable as possible. When it comes to the actual treatment
itself, we are thankful that modern dentistry has come a long way in its pain
management techniques. For example, we always apply a preanaesthetic ointment
which numbs the surface before we give a needle and then we always take the time
to ensure the anaesthetic goes in with absolutely minimal discomfort.
As part of our getting to know our new patients, we forward them a history and health questionnaire which we ask them to fill out in the convenience of their own home. This makes it easier to list the name and dosage of any medications they might be taking.
