Janis and Yvonne

Drs McAloon and Vidovic are prosthodontists with 30 years of general dental experience and over 20 years of specialist prosthodontic experience between them. Our dental practice in St Leonards is now in its 17th year and aims to be an outstanding referral destination for patients with complex or aesthetically critical restorative needs. The vast majority of our patients are referred by our general dentist colleagues but it is not necessary for a patient to have a referral to attend.

what is a prosthodontist?

Prosthodontists are dental specialists who undertake many different and complex technical procedures related to the replacement and restoration of teeth. They have advanced diagnostic and analytical capabilities which ensure they identify and solve the cause of dental problems before restoring a mouth to full function and aesthetics. Their experience and restorative technical skills allow them to successfully co-ordinate with the referring dentist, and if necessary other specialists, and then carry out treatment to deliver outcomes which best meet their patients’ needs.

Prosthodontics is one of the six recognised specialties within dentistry and is recognised by the Dental Board of NSW. It currently takes 3 years of full time study, in addition to the 5 years to become a dentist, to obtain a Master of Dental Science, the usual qualification to be registered as a Prosthodontist.
