Drs McAloon and Vidovic are specialist prosthodontists with 20 years of general dental experience and over 30 years of specialist prosthodontic experience between them. Their practice in St Leonards is now in its 20th year and aims to be an outstanding practice and referral destination for patients with complex or aesthetically critical restorative needs. The vast majority of their patients are referred by their general dentist colleagues but it is not necessary for a patient to have a referral to attend.
what are prosthodontists?
Prosthodontists are specialist dentists specifically trained in advanced restoration and replacement of teeth. They have extensive diagnostic capabilities to help them identify and solve the cause of dental problems before restoring a mouth to full function and aesthetics. Their knowledge, experience and technical restorative skills allow them to successfully co-ordinate with referring dentists, and if necessary other specialists, and carry out treatment to deliver outcomes which best meet their patients’ needs.
Prosthodontics is recognised by the Dental Board of NSW as one of the six recognised specialties within dentistry. It currently takes 3 years of full time study, in addition to the 5 years to become a dentist, to obtain a Master of Dental Science, the usual qualification to be registered as a Prosthodontist.
